Yumi Jun
Band
Paris, France
Yumi Jun is a young Paris-based dream pop quartet crafting immersive, nostalgic soundscapes. Rooted in the lineage of artists like Cocteau Twins, Slowdive, and Air, Yumi Jun’s music drifts between hazy shoegaze textures and delicate, melody-driven songwriting. Their sound is defined by shimmering guitars, soft-focus vocals, and an emotional undercurrent that feels both intimate and cinematic. Following the release of their debut single in 2025, Yumi Jun have begun to establish themselves as one of the most exciting young acts in Paris’s independent scene, selling out shows across the city and bringing a sense of sincerity and emotional depth wherever they play. Their debut EP, a fading diary, was released in June 2026.
At the core of the band is the sibling connection between Yumi and Paako, whose intuitive creative bond forms the foundation of the group’s writing process. Joined by Yanis originally from Switzerland - who first connected with Yumi online before relocating to Paris - and Leyth, whose introduction came through a serendipitous tattoo raffle, the group’s formation feels as organic as their music.
Beyond music, their aesthetic is informed by visual art and film - particularly the ethereal, color-driven work of cinematographers like Noboru Shinoda as well as the emotional pull of physical spaces and nature. Drawing from analog textures, washed-out color palettes, and dreamlike cinematography, their world feels suspended somewhere between faded photographs and late-night film stills. There are traces of vintage and androgynous styling - flowing silhouettes, gothic and Victorian details, and one-of-a-kind thrifted pieces - blended with a subtle nod to Japanese visual kei and European art-house sensibilities.
With their debut EP, a fading diary, they continue to refine a sound and visual language that invites listeners to drift, reflect, and disappear - if only for a moment.
